May 2025 25

Under the patronage of His Royal Highness Prince Faisal bin Bandar bin Abdulaziz, Governor of Riyadh, His Excellency the Minister of Human Resources and Social Development and Chairman of the Board of the National Center for Non-Profit Sector, Eng. Ahmed bin Sulaiman Al Rajhi, launched the Volunteer Work License initiative and inaugurated the Non-Profit Observatory Foundation for Serving Pilgrims. These initiatives represent a significant developmental and economic boost for the sector by equipping volunteers, enhancing organizational efficiency, and fostering social innovation, thereby contributing to the sustainability of the non-profit sector and increasing its contribution to the GDP.
This was announced during the opening of the third edition of the International Exhibition for Non-Profit Sector (IENA) 2025. The event included a social investment forum and the Gulf Forum for strengthening the relationship between the non-profit sector and the government and private sectors. The exhibition serves as a pioneering platform that brings together non-profit organizations with governmental, private, and international institutions to promote collaboration, exchange expertise, and develop solutions and innovations in the sector.
The exhibition underscores the strategic role of the non-profit sector in achieving sustainable developmental and social goals. It focuses on empowering human capabilities, increasing the number of non-profit organizations across various developmental fields, and raising the sector’s contribution to the GDP to 5% by 2030.
On his part, Al Rajhi highlighted that the Volunteer Work License aims to train and qualify volunteers to perform their tasks professionally and with distinction within a structured and secure framework, under the umbrella of the National Volunteer Work Ecosystem. This initiative is a cornerstone in organizing and empowering volunteer efforts, particularly in serving pilgrims, aligning with Saudi Vision 2030 objectives to promote a culture of giving and institutionalize community work.
He clarified that the Non-Profit Observatory Foundation for Serving Pilgrims is designed to monitor the sector’s actual performance and systematically collect and analyze data in order to produce high-quality studies that address the challenges and obstacles faced by non-profit organizations. Through its work, the Foundation seeks to enhance coordination among stakeholders, support the sustainability of organizations, and elevate their level of excellence to align with national developmental aspirations.
