The National Center for Non-Profit Sector (NCNP) showcased the non-profit sector’s 2024 accomplishments in the Saudi Vision 2030 Annual Report, noting that key performance indicators for the sector have exceeded annual targets.
Among the year’s headline milestones was the record engagement of 1.2 million volunteers, marking a 48.3% jump from 2023. This means the sector has already hit one of its Saudi Vision 2030 targets six years earlier.
The report detailed multiple dimensions of volunteerism growth. Since the launch of the National Volunteer Portal in 2020, the portal has grown to host 2.1 million registered volunteers and more than 7,000 registered organizations, offering over 542,000 volunteer opportunities in 2024, with a total exceeding 80 million volunteer hours.
Economically, the report highlighted that the non-profit sector’s contribution to GDP reached 0.99% in 2024, surpassing the year’s target and moving toward the 2030 goal of 5%. Employment in the sector also climbed, with non-profit roles now accounting for 0.64% of the national workforce, edging closer to the 1.1% target set for the end of the decade.
In terms of organizational growth, the number of non-profit entities grew by 252.76% by the end of 2024 compared to the 2015 baseline, bringing the total to 5,700 organizations.
According to the Saudi Vision report, this growth reflects the Vision 2030 commitment to empowering society through a wide range of social, cultural, and economic reforms, aimed at fostering prosperity, enhancing community participation in national development, and ensuring stronger integration between institutional and individual contributions.
